Leigh Leopards could make three more signings according to coach Adrian Lam

Leigh Leopards showed Super League what they can do in 2023 as they defeated Leeds Rhinos today thanks to a last minute Zak Hardaker try to win 14-12.

The Leopards are expected to do well after some big signings, such as Hardaker, and when speaking about his goals after the game, coach Adrian Lam revealed the club could make more signings:

“We’ve talked about not talking about it. That said, we feel if we get our game right we can compete and we want to finish as high as we can.

“I can’t tell you my goals. We want to perform to our abilities and reach goals that we set ourselves.

“I think we can still buy two or three players as the season goes on but we will let the first six weeks unfold and keep adding to the squad.”

This came after he spoke proudly about his side’s performance:

“We showed that we can compete at this level. We’ve trained well as a group. There are 11 new faces in the squad so it was like starting again. It wasn’t perfect, it was a bit clunky but to hang in there and win it at the end was awesome.

“I have worked really hard to get them players here so I know exactly what they’re about but tonight was making sure we connected well as a team with so many new faces

There’s a lot of experience like Zak Hardaker, Oliver Holmes and Gareth O’Brien. They’ve all played a lot of games, we didn’t have Tom Briscoe, Jack Hughes and Edwin Ipape so to have them to come back in is great.

“I said that the result wasn’t important but the closer we got to the end that changed. I said to them if we were close with 20 minutes to go, to go for it. To execute at the end that was awesome. I am really proud of them.

“They had a lot of changes, we aren’t going to get too ahead of ourselves.”
