Leigh Leopards fans will have to wait a little bit longer yet before they see Bailey Hodgson return to the field, boss Adrian Lam has confirmed.
Hodgson has been missing with a knee injury since the end of February, and it was thought that he could make his comeback this week against Catalans Dragons.
Lam said earlier this month that he expects most if not all of his injured players to be back in selection contention by round 10, but that hasn’t proved to be the case.
The big exception to the rule is Andrew Badrock, who is out for the season with a dislocated shoulde, but he won’t be the only injured player not making the trip to Perpignan this week.
Hodgson suffered a set-back earlier in April that has delayed his return to the field, but in a more positive update Lam has revealed when Leigh fans can expect to watch the full-back pull the jersey on again.
“We mentioned that it was a slight chance [a return in round 10], but there was a setback about a month ago. He was a small chance to be here.
“We feel that we can get through this and then give him that week off in the semi-final of the Challenge Cup that weekend there.
“As an extra week on top of what he’s done, he’ll probably be in the picture for Hull KR.”
That Leopards-Robins game is set to be even more entertaining than it already looks, with KR set to be bringing back their star full-back, Arthur Mourgue, back for that game too.
Mourgue has been out since KR’s World Club Challenge win over Brisbane Broncos, with Jack Broadbent deputising excellently in his absence.
Leigh will eventually have a selection dilemma of their own, with David Armstrong coming back from a long-term injury and he is set to return this week against Catalans, should he come through training okay this week.
