Leigh Leopards boss excited to work alongside former St Helens coach and his new team

Bolton RLFC have made an excitement appointment for the start of the new season.

They have brought in Stephen Fitzmartin from St Helens.

Fitzmartin worked as assistant coach for the club’s standard setting women’s team as they went on to win the treble in 2021 becoming the first team to do so.

In a statement by the club, they said:

“Bolton RLFC are delighted to announce Stephen Fitzmartin as the clubs new head coach ahead of the 2023 season.

“Ste has a wealth of experience across Rugby League with coaching roles at Haydock, Golborne and Salford Lions (Ladies) as part of his résumé.

“More recently, Ste was also part of the coaching team at St Helen’s ladies team, helping them to become Super League champions in 2021.

“The club are delighted to have brought a coach with Ste’s pedigree on board and can’t wait to get started in 2023 Keep checking our social media platforms for further coaching developments and club progress.”

Their fans should be excited by this appointment but so is Leigh Leopards owner Derek Beaumont who is set to work alongside Fitzmartin and his new club Bolton in the years to come.

He said: “Great to see this, looking forward to building a good relationship.”
