Leigh Leopards announce fifth 2025 recruit as Wigan Warriors man joins

Leigh Leopards have announced their latest addition ahead of the 2025 Super League season, with Ryan Brown joining the club. The forward joins from Wigan Warriors on a two-year deal, ensuring he will be with the Leopards until the end of the 2026 season.

Brown is just 19-years-old, but has represented England at academy level and has impressed while playing in the youth ranks at Wigan, where he has been since 2019. He never made a competitive first-team appearance for the Warriors, with the reserves being the furthest he got at the Brick Community Stadium.

The prop did pick up some first team experience while out on loan at Midlands Hurricanes and Barrow Raiders this season, though, with 11 appearances coming with the latter in the Championship.

He’ll hope to continue his progress in the colours of Leigh next season and catch the eye of Adrian Lam, who will be watching him closely when pre-season gets underway, no doubt.

“Ryan really impressed playing for the academy and reserves at Wigan,” Leigh’s head of rugby Chris Chester said of the club’s latest arrival. “He’s a no-nonsense front rower who plays big minutes.

“With Ryan’s chances at Wigan limited I’m delighted to hand him an opportunity with Leigh Leopards in 2025.”

Brown becomes the latest player to join Leigh with the club announcing the additions of Isaac Liu, Tesi Niu and and Ben Condon last week, with Newcastle Knights’ David Armstrong also secured for next season.

With the Leopards undergoing something of a rebuild this summer, they are expected to announce more new additions in the coming weeks as they look to build on their fifth placed finish.

Speaking about the club’s plans for next season, Lam said after the Leopards’ play-off loss to Wigan: “We’ve made some tough decisions to change the group around and to get some speed in there which you’ve seen tonight certainly helps if you’ve got that. A new look next year, some nervous times around that but also opportunities for growth.”
