Leigh Centurions – Team news and form
Leigh look likely to bring in Micky Higham since the veteran missed the opening two round through injury. Meanwhile, Australian Lachlan Burr and Hull FC loanee Curtis Naughton are also set for their debuts. Unfortunately Antoni Maria misses out after damaging a pectoral muscle – and will be replaced by James Green.
The Centurions faced a tough ask to their life back into Super League, with Castleford, Leeds and Saints in their opening three games. However, they’ve started to adapt well to the demands of the elite competition and look set for a big display in front of another sizeable crowd.
St Helens – Team news and form
Saints make just the one change from the side that edged out Leeds Rhinos at Langtree Park, with Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook making his comeback from injury to replace Gold Coast-bound Joe Greenwood. New signing Zeb Taia misses out because of a hold up with his visa process.
Keiron Cunningham’s men battled past Leeds in their only Super League game; so much like Leigh have faced a solid test going into this game. Saints got the better of Leeds in that game thanks largely to the quality of impact on the interchange bench.
Ones to watch and where the game will be won
I think the home side can look to Mitch Brown for that extra bit of quality as well as former Saint Atelea Vea, who had a huge performance against Leeds. I believe these two players hold the key to that something special that can break down a resolute Saints outfit.
For the visitors, Theo Fages and Kyle Amor are worth watching after their impressive performances against Leeds. Fages was superb with some fantastic defence while scoring the Saints’ only try in a Man of the Match performance.
