This morning the likes of New Zealand and Tonga have announced their World Cup squads as they hope to win the tournament.
Now Papua New Guinea have named their squad for the World Cup as many predict them to make it to the quarter-finals and meet the winners of England’s group which could be Shaun Wane’s side or a star studded Samoa outfit.
In their hopes of getting deep into the competition, Papua New Guinea have named a strong squad headlined by Leeds Rhinos star Rhyse Martin.
Martin has kicked 38 consecutive goals without missing and three more would equal a World Record and four would set a new one having already set the record for the most in Super League and NRL.
A former Rhino in Wellington Albert is also named but James Segeyaro misses out as he revealed over the weekend highlighting his disappointment.
Meanwhile, Leigh Centurions’ promotion heroes Championship Player of the Year Edwin Ipape and Man of the Match in last night’s Grand Final Lachlan Lam are also named in a strong PNG squad.
The likes of Alex Johnston and Melbourne backs Justin Olam and Xavier Coates provide the squad with some real NRL experience especially Johnston who is a try scoring sensation.
