Leigh Centurions owner Derek Beaumont urges Bradford Bulls fans to be “patient” with Nigel Wood

It’s been a rough old time at Odsal recently.

It’s been eight years since they lost their Super League status and right now they appear as far away from the top tier as ever.

Despite the boost of Mark Dunning’s appointment as permanent boss following a stint as interim, Bradford have been soundly beaten in their last two games.

First they were hit for fifty against Newcastle before losing to struggling London who hauled themselves away from trouble and into 11th in the table.

Between those two wins were allegations that Chairman Nigel Wood had disrespected Bradford fans at Newcastle resulting a statement from Wood denying this occurred.

After that there was a somewhat controversial fans forum which divided opinion on social media.

The defeat to London last night didn’t help matters but a fellow figure of importance at a Championship club has had his say.

Leigh Centurions owner Derek Beaumont took to Twitter to urge Bradford fans to be patient with Wood describing him as “astute” and “knowledgeable” in rugby league.

He said: “I obviously cannot comment on any of this other than to say in Nigel Wood you have an extremely astute, knowledgeable well connected and respected man in RL circles who cares deeply about your club and the game of RL. Be patient you need him to engage the council and other plans.”
