Leigh Centurions owner Derek Beaumont gives his verdict on Premier Sports

Leigh Centurions owner Derek Beaumont is one of the most passionate and colourful characters in rugby league – and he’s exactly what the sport needs.

Someone pumping his own money into a club and showing tremendous loyalty after a decade filled with ups and downs can only be good for rugby league.

And, it’s always interesting to get his views on current events in the sport – especially with his side Leigh aiming for promotion back to Super League in 2022.

With Premier Sports covering the Championship with pundits Leon Pryce and Kevin Brown joining host Emma Jones, it’s a brand new, fresh look for the game – and Beaumont certainly agrees.

He tweeted: “Looking forward to catching @LeighCenturions v @BradfordBullsRL on @PremierSportsTV tonight. Thought their coverage was great for the first two rounds. Both teams will be glad to be on the top quality surface @lsvstadium let’s hope it’s an entertaining and injury free game.”

Leigh head into tonight’s game with the Bulls with one win from two games after battering Whitehaven in the opening round to then succumbing to a strong Featherstone performance in round two.
