Leigh Centurions forward bids farewell to the club

Leigh Centurions are headed to Super League in 2023 and although some of their squad will remain in tact, the quota rules in the top tier mean that not all of the Centurions’ oversea stars can say.

And last night one of them announced their goodbyes to the club.

This was in the shape of prop forward Mark Ioane who was a big part of Leigh’s last Super League campaign in 2021 prior to relegation and was a member of the squad who guided them back this year as the club lost just one league game all year.

He took to Twitter last night to bid farewell to the club saying: “Thank you to all staff, players and fans throughout my time here for their friendship, work behind the scenes, battle on the field and their support at all games). Quality.

“Especially our 2022 squad (% special group results for the history books: unmatched.)

“To my family thank you for your constant support and for holding it down at home with the kids when I was away. May the future be a success for you all.

“Memories for life thank you.”

Ioane is widely expected to join newly promoted Keighley Cougars in the Championship in 2023.

The Cougars have promised another signing announcement tonight which is likely to be Ioane.
