Leigh Centurions announce impressive ticket sales for Million Pound Game as more of ground opened

Attendances have been quite a talking point over the last few days following the Super League Grand Final between St Helens and Leeds.

60,783 people attended the game at Old Trafford which was the lowest since 2001 excluding the two pandemic impacted Grand Finals in 2020 and 2021.

Many suggested this demonstrated the need for IMG and their recommendations which were presented on Wednesday.

However, others suggested it should be celebrated given the difficult economic climate we live in.

Following this, the NRL announced that their Grand Final has sold out between Penrith and Parramatta.

Now the Championship Grand Final between Leigh and Batley has joined the discussion as Leigh Sports Village gets ready to host the Million Pound Game as the two teams battle it out for a place in Super League.

Leigh of course host it as the league leaders and are the massive favourites for the fixture.

Everything is looking up at the Centurions and they’ve now announced impressive ticket sales for Sunday’s Million Pound Game.

Two days before the final, they announced that over 50% of the stadium’s capacity had been sold out with over 6000 tickets sold for the game.

That’s likely to have climbed up higher over the last 12 hours and will only continue to increase over the next day especially now that Leigh have opened up more of the stadium with the East Stand being partially open with the north end being opened up.

Leigh fans are certainly excited and so are Leigh players including Josh Charnley who took to Twitter to say: “How good?! LSV Is going to be pumping!!”

The game kicks off at 18:30 tomorrow and TV coverage starts at 17:45 on Premier Sports 1.
