The Gold Coast Titans have bolstered their hooking depth, signing former Leeds Rhino Kruise Leeming for the remainder of the 2023 season.
The 27-year-old has 187 games of Super League experience, scoring a try in last season’s grand final.
Titans Coach Justin Holbrook says he’s looking forward to Leeming linking up with the squad in the coming weeks.
“Kruise has runs on the board in the hooking role and has shown what he can do in the English competition for many years now,” Holbrook said.
The move comes after Leeming submitted a request to the Rhinos to leave the club.
Leeming joined the Rhinos in 2020 and helped them to the Challenge Cup in his first season.
LATEST NEWS
In 2021 he was sensational making the Super League Dream Team and making his England debut.
Last year he was continuing his fine form in a struggling Leeds side until he picked up an injury. This saw Jarrod O’Connor displace him as Leeds’ first choice nine which is why Leeming looked for a move away from Headingley.
But what has the reaction been down under to his move?
Some are describing it as a decent signing for the club:
#NRL Kruise Leeming signs with the Titans. Seems a decent signing on the limited Super League I have seen. https://t.co/SFTjTqUYzv

Meanwhile others pointed to the other arrivals at the Titans, including Warrington Wolves’ Thomas Mikaele, pointing out the smart business behind the moves:
The Titans have made some really smart signings these past two weeks.
Kruise Leeming.
Ken Maumalo.
Thomas Mikaele. All of them are solid options and add good depth especially Kruise and Mikaele where we are a short atm with injuries. https://t.co/nc3pb8dbZD

One person compared Leeming’s move to the arrival of Josh Hodgson, who has been brilliant in the NRL since he joined in 2015, preparing himself to be proven wrong by Leeming.
Good athlete. Will add speed from DH. But has inconsistent distribution & decision making, and is prone to soft defence, so he'll have to improve massively, but I never thought Hodgson would be good enough, so we'll see. I hope he does well.

However, one fan described it as worrying times:
Thoughts go out to all Gold Coast Titans fans in these worrying times.
