Leeds v Huddersfield: Predicted line-ups and late injury news

Play-off chasing Leeds host Huddersfield tonight in what should be a special occasion at Headingley. Not only is it Rivals Round but the Rhinos faithful will also welcome back Rob Burrow for the first time this year as he promotes his book ‘Too Many Reasons to Live.’

Leeds will need the spirit of Burrow if they’re going to win as the injury problems continue to pile up for the Rhinos. Having already lost the likes of Liam Sutcliffe, Alex Mellor and Mikolaj Oledzki for the rest of the season Luke Gale and Konrad Hurrell have now joined the treatment room at Headingley creating more problems for Richard Agar to solve. To replace Hurrell, it’s likely Tom Briscoe will move to centre whilst his younger brother Luke takes over on the wing. In the halves, Kruise Leeming could again fill in at seven where he’s impressed this season however Agar himself hinted that youngster Callum McLelland could replace Gale in the halves. Meanwhile, as the Rhinos struggle for depth, they might turn to 17-year-old starlet Levi Edwards who has impressed on loan at Batley this season.

Speaking of exciting 17-year-olds, despite the fact Oliver Russell, Jack Cogger and Lee Gaskell were all named in the Giants’ squad, Will Pryce will likely remain in the halves for Huddersfield. He’ll be joined by Cogger as Russell returns from injury whilst Gaskell could provide cover on the bench. Meanwhile, Ian Watson has a problem to solve at second-row due to Joe Greenwood’s absence so he may rely on Oliver Wilson moving into the backrow whilst Matty English comes into the starting line-up.
