Leeds United captain Ethan Ampadu has met with his Leeds Rhinos counterpart with the Welshman outlining the club’s shared goals for 2025.
Whilst Leeds Rhinos are set to start their season this month, Leeds United are approaching the final stretch of their campaign as they aim to earn promotion to the Premier League.
Currently, Daniel Farke’s side are top of the Championship having played 30 of their 46 games and Leeds Rhinos could take inspiration from that as Super League kicks off in less than a fortnight’s time.
Sky Sports have brought United captain Ethan Ampadu and Rhinos’ co-captain Cam Smith together and both men have spoken on the Leeds Rhinos YouTube channel about the experience and what the two club’s shared goals are for 2025.
“It was the two clubs meeting for the first time for me so it was a really enjoyable day,” Ampadu explained.
“It’s a massive sporting city, I know especially from the football side of things how big it is and you obviously hear about the rugby things.
“Having had the pleasure to meet Cameron (Smith), I really got that sense and hopefully us and you, Leeds Rhinos, can make the city really proud.”

Making the city proud is something that Rhinos’ co-captain Smith is intent on doing with Leeds looking to kick on under Brad Arthur after missing the play-offs the past two seasons.
Smith explained: “Leeds as a city is so passionate about sport so it’s awesome that we’ve got a little bit of a collaboration going on.
“It’s good to see that they’re doing so well and we’re going to carry that on into the Super League season.
“It’s nice to see them doing really well, I came down to the game against Norwich and saw them get a 2-0 win. It’s good to see them playing so well and we’ll be carrying that into the season for the Rhinos.
Ampadu was clear on both club’s goals as well which was ultimately to make their city proud as the two teams hope to feed off each other’s success.
“Fingers crossed, we’re wishing them the best of luck in their season,” the Welsh international said.
“Hopefully, they can achieve everything they want to achieve and hopefully, both clubs can make this city proud.”
