Leeds to make offer for NRL forward

Leeds Rhinos are reportedly set to offer a deal to outcast St George Illawarra forward Tariq Sims, according to League Down Under.

Sims revealed himself that contract talks with the Dragons failed to materialise despite impressing in 2021.

“The conversations with the Dragons didn’t even reach that point, negotiating length of deals or the financial situations,” Sims said.

“The conversations we had were pretty short and sharp.”

Three NRL clubs are also said to be in for Sims, though they have since remained unnamed, whilst Leeds are heading the race for a Super League signature.

The Fijian prop is still in contract with the Dragons until the end of 2022, but the club has repeatedly reiterated that Sims is free to leave if another side comes in before then.

Leeds have lost Konrad Hurrell and King Vuniyayawa off their quota for next season, whilst Rob Lui has retired which has freed up a number of quota spots.

The Rhinos have also brought in the likes of Blake Austin and Aidan Sezer, with Rhyse Martin penning a new deal.
