Leeds to honour Rob Burrow on 2022 home shirt

Leeds Rhinos will once again add a special feature to their 2022 home shirt to acknowledge Rhinos legend Rob Burrow MBE as he continues his battle with Motor Neurone Disease.

The shirt, which will be launched in early October has been designed in conjunction with technical apparel suppliers OXEN and follows on the back of a record breaking year in 2021 when over 20,000 replica shirts were snapped up by the Rhinos fan base.

Elite Pro Sports CEO Lee Jenkinson commented: “The challenge of having such a well-received home shirt like we had in 2021 is being able to deliver something the following year which again exceeds fan expectations. We worked with Head of Customer Experience, Sian Jones and the Rhinos Supporters’ Board early in 2021 to ensure that we took on board any and all feedback from our initial partner launch last October and this feedback proved invaluable to the final design of the 2022 home kit.

“It was collectively agreed that we all wanted to include an acknowledgment to Rob again in the 2022 kit and I think our design team has done a fantastic job of retaining Rhinos traditions and including a unique twist.”

Rob Oates, Leeds Rhinos Commercial Director added: “It’s testament to the our loyal group of sponsors that we were able to sign off the shirt so early in 2021. Despite still being in the midst of a global pandemic, OXEN have been able to commence production and navigate through the worldwide freight issues to still have the shirts on sale for the build up to Christmas.

“Having seen the shots from last week’s photoshoot, I’m confident that sales are going to surpass the 2021 home shirts as we all look forward to what we hope will be a return to a traditional season”
