Leeds star opens up on “very tough” COVID experience

Liam Sutcliffe returned to action for Leeds against Leigh on Thursday night.

The utility man started at fullback in the Rhinos’ 48-18 drubbing of the Centurions and Sutcliffe was just happy to get game time, he told the Leeds website.

“It was good to get a run out, I think it was five weeks since I last played a game and it was a good game to come back to,” Sutcliffe said.”

Sutcliffe knows just how hard it can be to recover from the illness and so was happy for his ordeal to be over.

“It’s been very tough, having Covid and then sat on the sofa for ten days straight – obviously you can’t do anything as you’re just sat on the sofa bored out of your head.

“It wasn’t the best so I was just glad to be out of it.

“I just wanted to get through it to see how my lungs and chest would be – you’ve heard about people with Covid and how they react to it after but I was just glad to get over it.”
