Leeds Rhinos youngster makes move to Castleford Tigers

Recently, Lee Radford hinted that his Castleford Tigers side were set to bring in a number of young players with impressive potential.

One of those signings has been confirmed tonight in the shape of Leeds Rhinos youngster Muizz Mustapha who came through the ranks at Headingley debuting in 2019.

He spent last year on loan at Hull KR playing in their play-off win over Warrington and their semi-final defeat to Catalans before returning to Leeds in 2022.

Again, he helped his side to the play-offs scoring a lovely try against Wigan in Leeds’ 42-12 win over the Warriors at Headingley.

He is now set to join Lee Radford and his Castleford side in 2023 signing a one year deal at the Tigers.

When speaking about the move, Mustapha said to castlefordtigers.com:

“I’m very excited! It’s a new chapter and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. I’ve been at Leeds since I was a kid so it’s a whole new environment.

There are a few familiar and friendly faces for Muizz at the Fords when pre-season starts for all on November 14th, so he expects to fit in well very quickly.

“I know Sutty (Alex Sutcliffe), Mellor (Alex Mellor), Cal (Callum McLelland) and Brad Martin, I came through the Scholarship with Brad actually, so there’s quite a few that I already know.

“When I spoke to Radders (Lee Radford) he told me about the plans and how the club is looking forward to the future. Everyone else I’ve met so far too has been great, genuine lads.”

It’s expected that another former Leeds youngster and teammate of Mustapha Jack Broadbent will join him at the Jungle in 2023.
