The Leeds Rhinos will continue to pay tribute to club legend, Rob Burrow, at the weekend at they welcome the Leigh Leopards to AMT Headingley in Super League.
Leeds will wear a special commemorative shirt for the occasion, the proceeds from which will go towards raising funds for MND related causes.
Leeds’ struggles on the field continued this week, as they slumped to a shock defeat against Hull FC.
The Rhinos are expecting a bumper crowd at Headingley for the game against Leigh and will be hoping for a vastly improved showing to lift the gloom around the club.
They have now confirmed plans for the Number seven shirt, following Burrow’s tragic passing.

In a club statement the Rhinos confirmed how they planned to use the number seven shirt going forward. Whilst some fans have called for the shirt to be retired as a tribute to Burrow, the club has confirmed that the shirt will remain in use. The statement said:
“Leeds Rhinos have revealed that all players at the club who wear the famous number 7 shirt worn by Rob Burrow will have a special reminder of the legendary player when they run out for the Rhinos going forward.
“At the agreement of the Burrow family, the club will not retire the number 7 shirt, instead it will continue to be a reminder of the eight time Grand Final winner for generations to come.
“Starting this weekend when Leeds Rhinos men and women’s teams are in action, the number seven on the shirt of Matt Frawley and Caitlin Casey will carry Rob’s signature and number 7 logo on the top.
“This will then be replicated on all academy, reserves and scholarship teams for the mens and women’s teams as well as the Rhinos Wheelchair, PDRL and LDSL players.”
