Several Super League players could be sweating today’s Match Review Panel in fear of disciplinary action after Round Five’s conclusion.
Round Five of Super League was an interesting one with the table starting to become more filled ut as results go by and that’s seen some teams revert to where we would expect, whilst others continue to surprise.
Two teams who continue to surprise, one more than the other, are Hull KR and Hull FC who sit in first and second with the Robins maintaining their 100% record with a dominant win over Leigh Leopards, a side that the Black and Whites drew with.
That draw is one of several strong results, as was Friday’s win over Wakefied Trinity meaning John Cartwright’s side sit third to the surprise of almost everyone in rugby league.
Moving into Round Six of Super League, where we will learn even more about each team, several players could fall foul of the disciplinary procedures.
We’ve cast an eye over those who could be sweating today’s Super League disciplinary action.
Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors post-match to catch attention of Super League disciplinary panel

Just one card was shown across Super League this past round but the disciplinary actions, if any are taken, could focus on the post-match of one of the games of the weekend.
Leeds Rhinos put in a season-best performance to beat Wigan Warriors 12-10 and some of the Rhinos’ celebrations led to things boiling over.
It seemed that Harry Newman was at the centre of it, something Wigan boss Matt Peet would then speak on as he took aim at the Rhinos’ centre, with the England international’s actions causing a huge coming together.
How much actually happened is somewhat unclear based on the Sky Sports coverage and whilst it could be just a case of handbags, the Match Review Panel will certainly have a look.
On that incident, Peet said: “Some players you’re not surprised when they’re involved in incidents. I don’t think anyone will be surprised to see…
“Some players carry on when they win and some don’t. Normally players who win a lot don’t.”
You can see Sky’s coverage of the altercation in the embedded tweet at the end of the article.
What else could the Match Review panel look at?
Round Five of Super League saw very few possible disciplinary concerns which was refreshing to see. There was just one yellow card shown and that went to Sam Tomkins in the 80th minute as he delayed the restart, with the Man of the Match earning a card of a different variety one day before his birthday.
Catalans won that game 26-4 with ease to add more misery to Castleford but they do have a win on the board, unlike Huddersfield who lost 23-10 to Salford Red Devils on Thursday night.
The Giants’ disjointed performance will be a huge cause for concern, as could a late hut from Leroy Cudjoe on Ryan Brierley as the ball was going dead should the Match Review Panel take a look.
Friday saw former Salford man Marc Sneyd star for Warrington as they beat St Helens 14-12 on the same night that Hull FC defeated Wakefield 16-12, both games that went without issue for the officials.
