Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves stars are among the high profile names included in Ireland’s squad this autumn. Ged Corcoran has named a 46-man squad ahead of their international clash with Scotland later this month, with plenty of Super League players included.
Liam Byrne, fresh from winning the Grand Final with Wigan last weekend has been included, while Leeds‘ James Bentley and Joe Philbin of Warrington have also been included. All three men have represented Ireland before, but Philbin has played for England and Great Britain since his last run out in green.
Louis and Innes Senior of Castleford Tigers have also been included, Leigh Leopards quartet Frankie Halton, Louis Brogan, Dan Norman and Keanan Brand could also be involved against the Scottish on October 27 in Newcastle. Salford winger Ethan Ryan has made the cut, while George King of Hull KR, Huddersfield Giants’ Aidan McGowan and Harry Rushton, and James McDonnell of Leeds Rhinos have also been given the nod.
The squad will be trimmed down significantly in the coming days of course, but Corcoran will fancy his chances of picking up a win over Scotland this month given the talent he has been able to name.
