Leeds Rhinos were stunned by Warrington Wolves in Round One.
40 minutes into the new season, the Rhinos, who reached the 2022 Grand Final, were 30-0 down to the Wolves who finished 11th in the league last year.
The Rhinos went on to lose 42-10 with no miracle comeback possible.
There was nearly a miracle comeback at Hull FC’s expense. In a brilliant start to life under Tony Smith, the Black and Whites led against Castleford Tigers 32-6 after an hour.
But the Tigers battled back but Smith was still pleased with his underdone side.
Now Smith’s second game will see him take on his nephew Rohan Smith in an interesting tussle.
Injury News
Leeds Rhinos
The Rhinos looked like they did have a new injury concern when Sam Lisone went off against Warrington Wolves with a foot injury but he did return to the field.
The Rhinos will likely be without Harry Newman and Nene MacDonald leaving a consistent problem in the centres for Smith.
Mikolaj Oledzki and Luke Hooley will definitely still be out whilst James Bentley will likely also be absent as he continues to endure an up and down time in recovery of a knee injury.
Hull FC
Hull FC will likely still be without skipper Carlos Tuimavave after he aggravated his injury in training.
Ligi Sao and Andre Savelio will be in the mix after injuries.
Jake Trueman will again miss the game as he awaits his debut.
