Leeds Rhinos swoop for Castleford Tigers duo

Leeds Rhinos have swooped for two Castleford Tigers forwards.

Will Shaw and Freddie Brennan-Jones are set to make their Rhinos debut for the reserves in a fixture against Hull FC this weekend after being released by the Tigers.

Shaw hails from the Brotherton Bulldogs and he will play for Rhinos’ reserves in 2023 whilst Yorkshire representative Brennan-Jones had a period on loan at Doncaster.

Rhinos reserves coach Walker told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “We are going to get a look at them this week.

“For whatever reason, they have left Cas and come to join us and they seem really good, talented kids.”

Walker added: “It [Saturday] is a good opportunity for them.

“They should bolster our middles a little bit.

“Freddie came into the first Yorkshire camp, he didn’t get a game, but he came in as a first year so he’s quite a decent addition for us.”

Meanwhile, Leeds’ recruitment for 2023 is shaping up well with the signing of Justin Sangare from Toulouse Olympique as well as James McDonnell from the Wigan Warriors.

On the flip side, the likes of Brad Dwyer, Bodene Thompson and Tom Briscoe have all been confirmed to be leaving by head coach Rohan Smith.
