Leeds Rhinos sweating over big blows as Rohan Smith reveals latest

Last night, Leeds Rhinos were able to overcome the Huddersfield Giants in incredible fashion, scoring a last-minute try through Blake Austin.

But, Rohan Smith will also be keeping his fingers crossed after losing Liam Sutcliffe and Morgan Gannon to injury – Sutcliffe in just the second minute.

“I’m not sure what the prognosis is there with Sutty,” Smith said after the game.

“He’s got a bang on his knee and clearly, he was hampered. Hopefully it will settle down and he can get himself back in the picture soon.”

Another Leeds man who was taken off with an issue was teenage starlet Morgan Gannon who only last week received some cracking A Level results.

Straight into the fire of an important Super League game, Gannon was taken out after Austin hit a Huddersfield man off the ball, with Gannon mere cannon fodder in the unfolding play.

“He had multiple dings and wounds, but it was his ribs in the end.

“I was watching the game unfold and he was almost due to have a breather anyway, but then he got hit running a lead line.”

Smith will have to dust his side off again as Leeds

“We’ve just started spitballing in there about who could do what but it’s too early to tell when people have bumps and bruises.

“The good thing is we had three or four not picked tonight who will come into the picture.

“As it has been for a few months now, whatever team we’ve got, that will be the team and we will try our best.”

It’s not exactly the time of year when you want to be playing three games in just over a week with the play-offs looming round the corner, but Smith has never complained about the fixture list and got on with the task in hand.
