Leeds Rhinos suffer lengthy injury blow

Leeds Rhinos named their squad for Friday’s clash with Super League and World Champions St Helens in a Grand Final rematch.

Sam Lisone and Blake Austin are both been ruled out by calf injuries which means that Luke Hooley and Leon Ruan are drafted in to the squad. Hooley has made one senior first team appearance at Hull KR earlier this season whilst Ruan is yet to make his Leeds Rhinos debut.

The loss of Lisone is another blow for the Rhinos and one that has seemingly come out of the blue.

Speaking to the press, Rohan Smith explained the injury lay offs of both players.

He said: “Blake is tracking well. He’s looking at a couple of week’s. Sam could be a month.”

The game on Friday is a double header of Super League action with reigning Betfred Womens Super League champions Leeds Rhinos hosting their counterparts from St Helens, kick off 5.30pm, before the mens Super League clash.

Interestingly, Lisone has a connection with the women’s team with partner Georgia Hale playing for the Rhinos until recently taking up an opportunity with the Gold Coast Titans.

However she and the club have re-assured fans that Lisone himself is committed to the club.
