Leeds Rhinos are less than a month away from their new Super League campaign which will begin against Salford Red Devils.
This game will be the chance for Brodie Croft and Andy Ackers to debut for the Rhinos against their former club after completing a £300,000 transfer from the AJ Bell Stadium to Headingley.
Meanwhile, former Leeds star Nene MacDonald will debut against the Rhinos. It will be a new look Leeds side with a number of new key players but the Rhinos could be without some key players.
The Rhinos are definitely set to be without Sam Lisone whilst Tom Holroyd is now a doubt and now James Bentley has picked up another injury.
With Morgan Gannon also recovering from concussion, this puts pressure on Rhyse Martin and James McDonnell to be fit for the start of the season. The club could also turn to the likes of James Donaldson and Mickael Goudemand but they may be needed at prop with Lisone, Holroyd and new signing Kieran Hudson all doubts the duo may be needed in the middle.
Rohan Smith confirms Leeds Rhinos injury blow
Rohan Smith confirmed this latest injury blow in the Yorkshire Evening Post. He said: “He had a mild ankle injury at the start of January, which he has attended to. Now he has got a mild shoulder niggle. If it was a competition game he would be 50-50, but for a friendly he is definitely not playing.
“That’s why it is frustrating. He has been training really hard, he is probably in the best shape of his life overall. That’s the frustrating thing for him, but it is a long season.”
He also added on other players: “Morgan [Gannon] is fine, he has been since Boxing Day evening. We are just building him up; he won’t play this weekend, but he is getting a bunch of practice work in and a bunch of gym work with a view to seeing where he’s at next week.”
