Leeds Rhinos are doing it incredibly tough with injuries at the moment and it could be about to get worse.
One of their top performers in 2023 pulled out late against Castleford Tigers on Saturday as the Magic Weekend in the shape of Tom Holroyd.
The prop is now set for scans to determine the extent of the injuries as confirmed by Rohan Smith: “They’re still working through that with some scans and they’re awaiting some scan results for a calf issue.”
However, there is still a chance he could feature against Wakefield Trinity this weekend:
“We’ve got a longer turnaround here, so we’ve still got a few days to sort of work out whether he’ll be a chance or not before we have to make a decision.”
The injury likely stems from a back problem picked up against St Helens:

“Uh, he actually had a hit in the back last week against St Helens, and at the time didn’t think a lot of it, but they think the calf injury may have originated from the back injury, you know, the nerves and stuff that travel down the leg and sometimes it’s transferred without trying to be too medical or anything. It may be a referred sort of situation from his back.”
