Leeds Rhinos star Rhyse Martin ends speculation about his future as he signs new deal

Leeds Rhinos star Rhyse Martin has been subject to plenty of speculation recently.

The second-row has arguably been Leeds’ best player in 2022 yet was coming off contract at the end of the year leaving Leeds fans worried that he may not be tied down to a new deal despite his terrific form especially given the upheaval in terms of cap space taking place at Headingley as Rohan Smith rebuilds.

Of all the players coming of contract at Leeds, he is perhaps the player Rhinos fans most wanted to see sign a new deal and their wish has come true this morning.

Martin has signed a new deal until the end of 2024 this morning as he signs a two-year extension on the back of last year’s one year extension after what was an up and down season for the backrower.

In 2022 however he has been exceptional scoring five goals and maintaining his brilliant goal kicker for the Rhinos.

By the end of his new deal he’ll have spent five and a half seasons with the Rhinos since joining midway through 2019.

He’ll be hoping to add some more silverware to his collection after helping Leeds win the Challenge Cup in 2020 scoring tries in the quarter-final and semi-final on the road to Wembley.

This news is a massive boost for Leeds ahead of a must win clash against Toulouse tomorrow.

He may very well play centre in that game after showing his versatility this season.
