Blake Austin has had a long career full of plenty of highlights and it’s not over yet.
When he suffered Grand Final defeat with Leeds Rhinos in 2022, the day after he took to social media to promise that he would one day win at Old Trafford.
However, he still took the time to reflect on his career on the brilliant Trot the Egg podcast.
When asked about the toughest player he has played with and against, he said: “Josh Papali’i for both. I’ve had to defend against him and I’ve played with him.
“He’s a guy that when he’s in your team, you see him train every week and he’s not the hardest trainer.
“He’ll always keep going but he’s always closer to the back than the front. You put him on the pitch and he’ll have 25 carries, 45 tackles and he won’t stop for 80 minutes.
“I played with Nigel Plumb as well and he was tough. He was held together by strapping tape.”
He also reflected on some of the best players he has played with including two Warrington Wolves stars in Ryan Atkins and Ben Westwood.
He was also asked about his favourite away ground: “I’m going to say Hull FC. I’ve scored a few tries on that ground, I seem to score a few every time I go there so I like that one.
“It’s a nice surface as well.”
