Leeds Rhinos star keen to put “hard” 2022 behind him and desperate to play against Wakefield Trinity

Last year, after a strong end to 2021, Tom Holroyd didn’t play a single game for Leeds Rhinos following an injury at the start of the campaign, a long term suspension incurred during his time on loan at Bradford Bulls and then surgery required to get him right for 2023.

Thus, the prop forward is very eager to get playing again as he explained on the club’s YouTube channel:

“I can’t wait to be honest, it has been a long time since I played for Leeds. I can’t wait for the season to get going.”

He is also desperate to play against Wakefield Trinity in Leeds Rhinos’ first friendly going into 2023 which comes on Boxing Day on a festive occasion:

“I’m hoping to be involved, it’s my first shot at playing for Leeds in a long time and a way to kick start next year for me and have a good season.”

Holroyd went on to explain that it was tough for him watching on last season knowing he couldn’t have an impact.

His struggles in 2022 followed a long injury lay off at the start of 2021 after he had a breakout year in 2020.

He is hoping to put those difficulties behind him:

“It was hard watching last year coming and watching knowing you can’t have a say in what the team were doing.

“I’m all sorted now and ready to push on and have a good year.”
