It’s fair to say Tom Holroyd won’t have been happy with 2022.
He didn’t play a single game for the Rhinos after two injuries sandwiched a mammoth suspension picked up on loan at Bradford Bulls but has started the last two games of pre-season against Wakefield Trinity and Leigh Leopards and is in line to start on the bench against Bradford Bulls tomorrow.
Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, Holroyd is glad to get some game time after a difficult 2022: “Pleased with it, I’m a player that needs it. I didn’t play much at all last year and I’m grateful for the games I do get.
“I’ve definitely changed a lot, I hope for the better. Just day in day out trying to get better as a person and a player.”
He has also been impressed by two of his fellow young props Sam Walters and Justin Sangare: “Sam Walters has been working hard, Sangare has been too. It’s them middle lads I love working with them. You get a sense of what the grind is around them and we know we can work for each other and that we’ve got a good bond. I enjoy working with those lads.”
He spoke specifically about Sangare and joked he doesn’t understand Yorkshire:

“He’s a good lad, he’s someone who it’s hard not to get on with him. He’s just a good person. I don’t know if he understands but just a thumbs up and a nod and that’s all it takes, it’s Yorkshire I don’t think he understands.”
