Leeds Rhinos signing reveals when he is likely to return from injury

One of Leeds Rhinos’ most interesting signings for 2023 is Luke Hooley.

The former Batley Bulldogs fullback is an exciting player with pace and skill. However, his start to his Leeds career has been delayed by ankle surgery.

Speaking to Serious About Rugby League at the Rhinos’ media day, Hooley spoke about his recovery and gave an encouraging update on his chances of playing early in the Super League season.

He said: “I had surgery about five weeks ago, it’s going good as well as it could. I start running at the end of this week. Feel like I’m getting there.

“We put a 10-12 week time frame on it so I’m aiming for Round Three.”

So, Hooley won’t have to wait long to get into the blue and amber and speaking about what he wants to do at Leeds, Hooley said:

“I want to play, I haven’t just come here to just make the numbers up. I’ve done the academy thing, at Wakefield where I just made the numbers up. The past two years at Batley I have had my best two seasons. So I have come here to put my best foot forward.”

There has been a lot of discussion about the Rhinos’ versatility ahead of 2023 and Hooley is also open to play in a number of different roles:

“I will play anywhere. Fullback is my primary position.”
