Leeds Rhinos send three of their brightest prospects on loan to Championship club

Leeds Rhinos

Leeds Rhinos have sent three of their most promising young players on loan to the Championship this week.

Ben Littlewood, Tom Nicholson-Watton and Presley Cassell have all been allowed to make the switch to Hunslet this week on an initial one-week loan deal. As such, the trio will feature for the Parksiders on Sunday at Widnes Vikings as the club looks for its second win of the Championship season.

Kyle Trout’s side are currently 14th in the second tier, but with three of Leeds brightest youngsters in their fold, they’ll be feeling confident as they head to the Vikings.

All three have been involved for the Rhinos this season, with Littlewood coming off the bench in two of the club’s three league games, with his last appearance coming in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Cassell is extremely highly rated, but has been loaned out to pick up some much needed minutes and the same can be said for Nicholson-Watton, who hasn’t featured since the loss at Leigh Leopards in round one.

The decision to loan out all three comes as something as a surprise, but they’ll be determined to put their best foot forward and push themselves back into Brad Arthur’s thinking.

“It’s no secret that we have been light on bodies, so having the chance to bring in Tom, Ben and Presley was something we moved quickly to do,” Trout said.

“All three players bring an exciting dynamic to selection this week. They are coming from a quality full-time environment and are all exciting prospects.

“We are grateful to have the three of them in our environment and looking forward to them helping the group to move forward on the field and for us as a club to help them in their journey as players also.”
