Leeds Rhinos’ Rhyse Martin has ban UPGRADED following ‘frivolous’ appeal

Rhyse Martin #12 of Leeds Rhinos arrives at The Halliwell Jones Stadium ahead of tonight's game

Leeds Rhinos’ Rhyse Martin has had his ban UPGRADED following a ‘frivolous’ appeal.

Martin appeared in front of the Operations Rules Tribunal tonight hoping to have his ban rescinded after hitting Castleford Tigers’ Alex Mellor round the face in Leeds’ massive win over Castleford.

The PNG international was charged with a Grade A High Tackle which yielded a one-match ban, but the Leeds club outlined their desire to appeal the ban.

However, the club tweeted: “Rhyse Martin has had his appeal for a Grade A charge rejected and will miss Friday’s play off game in Perpignan. In addition, he has been given another game ban for a frivolous challenge to the original charge.”
