Leeds Rhinos reveal their stance on IMG proposals

Leeds Rhinos CEO Gary Hetherington

Leeds Rhinos Chief Executive Gary Hetherington has given the Rhinos support to the proposals for club grading, which will be voted on this Wednesday.

This comes after Wakefield Trinity Chief Executive Michael Carter, who is departing the club in 2023, confirmed that while issues remain unresolved they will not be voting in favour of the changes.

Castleford Tigers are also thought to be voting against the changes.

Clubs like Batley Bulldogs and Featherstone Rovers have been open about their concerns whilst Keighley Cougars have been against them from the start.

Leeds though will be voting in favour of them as Hetherington confirmed his concerns have been addressed:

Hetherington commented on the Rhinos’ website, “Leeds Rhinos are very supportive of the process put in place by the clubs and the RFL which will see a series of recommendations to elevate the games popularity in future years.

“Tomorrow’s vote on the club grading process is the first part of the exercise and it is important for clubs to show support for the RFL, RL Commercial and IMG, who have made the recommendations.

“From the original proposals, the RFL have listened to concerns and certainly addressed the issues around community engagement and player development, which was absent from the initial discussion document,” added Hetherington.
