Leeds Rhinos release job advertisement for new coaches to support legendary player in charge of women’s team

Leeds Rhinos are looking to appoint an Assistant Coach for the Leeds Rhinos Women’s team who will provide world-class player coaching and development to Leeds Rhinos Women’s players acting as part of a multi-disciplinary team, reporting directly to the Head Coach, the legendary Rhinos women’s player Lois Forsell.

The candidate must be a highly qualified, committed rugby league coach with a strong desire to deliver excellence in a performance environment. You need to possess essential knowledge and experience in coaching rugby league.

They will have the ability to develop and manage players within the women’s team. To do this, they need to have a high standard of communication skills, both written and oral.

The role involves weeknight and weekend commitments.

As an experienced coach, you must have a UKCC Level 2 Coaching Rugby League qualification or above and have previous experience as a coach in an elite environment.

It comes after the Gibbons twins Anthony and David Gibbons left the club.

The two have formed the backbone of Leeds Rhinos pioneering women’s team.

They joined Leeds treble winner Adam Cuthbertson on the coaching staff in 2018 and in their first ever season they were 80 minutes away from the treble after finishing top and winning the Challenge Cup Final against Castleford Tigers.

The Gibbons twins stayed on in 2019 helping the club to another double this time the Challenge Cup and the Grand Final both at the expense of league leaders Castleford.

As Cuthbertson left for pastures new, they remains as Lois Forsell stayed on and in 2022 the Rhinos won the Grand Final a second time.

However, that Grand Final success will now be their last game as they leave the club.

David’s son Joe will wear 33 for the Rhinos in 2023.
