Leeds Rhinos rack up 104 points in record-breaking Challenge Cup win

A Leeds Rhinos club record was smashed with over 100 points scored in the group stage of the Challenge Cup.

Leeds Rhinos women swept aside Sheffield Eagles, who were badly hampered with injuries, to win 104-0, a score that marks a record for the largest win in Leeds Rhinos history – men or women.

That previous highest score was held by the Leeds team of 1913 who beat Coventry 102-0, however, the Rhinos women eclipsed that by two points as they progressed to the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup.

The Challenge Cup will be a major priority for the Rhinos in 2025 with the team having finished as the runners-up in the competition for three years in a row, losing each time in the final at the hands of St Helens.

St Helens also put on a ton of points in their Challenge Cup clash, defeating Warrington Wolves 102-0 as they took control of Group A and will in all likelihood progress to the semi-finals, needing to beat Cardiff Demons next weekend to ensure that.

The new format of the Challenge Cup pits four groups of three with the winners progressing to the semi-finals. Thus far, only Leeds have guaranteed a semi-final spot but that will change on Sunday afternoon if Wigan Warriors beat London Broncos, or if York Valkyrie beat Featherstone Rovers.

As for Leeds, their record 104-0 win over Sheffield marked their second win meaning they top their group and progress to the semi-finals.

The game only lasted 60 minutes on account of the injuries sustained by Sheffield with the Eagles reduced to just nine players, however, the damage was all done in the first-half as the Rhinos went into the break with an 80-0 lead.

Among the try-scorers for the Rhinos were Ebony Stead, who scored five, whilst Izzy Northrop (three), Ruby Walker (two), Shannon Lacy (tw0) and Bethan Dainton, Connie Boyd, Tally Bryer, Liv Whitehead, Sophie Nuttall, Evie Cousins and Mel Howard also scored.

Walker kicked 12 goals to take her personal points tally to 32 whilst Howard also converted twice as the Rhinos ran in 19 tries.
