Leeds Rhinos player ratings vs Wakefield Trinity as two new signings shine bright

Leeds Rhinos head coach Brad Arthur

Leeds Rhinos recorded an 18-16 win over Wakefield Trinity in their annual Boxing Day friendly at Headingley. Jake Connor scored twice on the day before young academy half-back George Brown got over for the decisive effort late on in front of more than 10,000 spectators.

Here’s a look at how Peter Smith’s rated Leeds‘ starting XIII from the contest.

Jake Connor: Some, hopefully ironic, boos, but this was a good start – he took his tries really well and was safe under kicks. 8

Maika Sivo: One run had the crowd on their feet, made some strong carries and a couple of big hits. 7

Ash Handley: Made a couple of strong tackles, adjusting to a new role. 7

Harry Newman: Couple of nice runs, set up a chance for Sivo. 6

Ryan Hall: Played on the right, one mistake, held up once and some strong carries. 7

Brodie Croft: Lively, one lovely break in the first half. 7

Matt Frawley: Involved in the first try, one decent break, but kicking could’ve been better. 6

Mikolaj Oledzki: Ran hard, got Leeds Rhinos on the front foot in his opening stint; got over the line but was held up in the second half. 8

Andy Ackers: Probably got more game time than expected, but was typically solid if nothing spectacular. 6

Keenan Palasia: Decent start, caught the eye with some strong carries in the opening quarter. 8

James Bentley: Made one error, but worked hard. 7

James McDonnell: Nothing eye-catching, good or bad. 6

Cameron Smith: Got his hands on the ball and did some good things. 7
