
Leeds Rhinos struggled as they were defeated by Wakefield Trinity 14-12 at Headingley in the opening round of Super League.
The Rhinos went into the game with high hopes, but Leeds were second-best throughout and some of their star individuals struggled against a Trinity team who were clinical in the first half and defended magnificently after the break. Here’s how the Leeds Rhinos players rated.

Error led to Trinity’s third try, couldn’t prevent the second, but did land a touchline goal,
Riley Lumb – 4
Had a torrid time on the left flank.
Ash Handley – 5
Took an early knock, struggled to deal with Trinity’s impressive right-edge.
Harry Newman – 5
Trinity’s decisive three-try burst followed his knock-on at the end of the first quarter, deserves credit for his try and one excellent offload.
Ryan Hall – 6
No opportunities on attack, but safe under the high ball and made a brilliant try-saving tackle on Corey Hall.
Brodie Croft – 3
His kick led to Leeds’ try, but he took some wrong options with and without the ball.
Matt Frawley – 4
Like his half-back partner, he was second-best to his Trinity counterpart.
Mikolaj Oledzki – 4
Started strongly, but spilled the ball in good field position midway through the second half and went off after a head knock.
Andy Ackers – 4
Played the full-80 but made a couple of errors.
Keenan Palasia – 5
Had a decent start, but didn’t go forward in his second spell.

Couldn’t find any space when he had the ball.
