Leeds Rhinos player ratings as 3 score 9/10 in impressive win over Salford Red Devils

Leeds Rhinos got off the mark in Betfred Super League with a gutsy 32-6 win at Salford Red Devils.

Despite trailing 6-0 after two minutes and losing two key players to injury in the first half, the Rhinos outscored their hosts by six tries to one to record a resounding win and claim the two points to take back to Leeds.

Here’s how the 17 Leeds Rhinos players rated.

Jake Connor – 8

Disciplined, created two tries with kicks, distributed well.

Riley Lumb – 9

Outstanding, two tries and some brilliant catches under heavy pressure.

Ash Handley – 8

Scored a vital try, won a captain’s challenge had a very strong game.

Harry Newman – 8

Kick led to a try, ran the ball strongly.

Ryan Hall – 7

No attacking chances, but two try-saving tackles, made some strong carries.

Brodie Croft – 7

Ran the ball more and was increasing in threat until a head injury ended his afternoon just before the break.

Matt Frawley – 7

Had a spell off the field, but defied a cut hand to ensure Rhinos had an experienced pivot.

Keenan Palasia – 9

Superb: did the first 65 minutes and the last seven, ran his blood to water.

Andy Ackers – 8

Defended strongly and some very good distribution.

Cooper Jenkins – 7

Had two spells on his Super League debut and did okay, if nothing spectacular.

James McDonnell – 8

One brilliant catch under pressure on Leeds’ line, worked hard in defence.

James Bentley – 7

Had a really poor start, but redeemed himself with a fantastic tackle to force a knock-on and his terrific try.

Cameron Smith – 7

Was strong up the middle, worked very hard but limped off after 36 minutes and didn’t return.

Subs

Sam Lisone – 5

Got 10 minutes midway through the second half.

Tom Holroyd – 8

Made a real impact, ran hard and strong.

Jarrod O’Connor – 7

Played at loose-forward and did a steady job.

Morgan Gannon – 9

Excellent impact, scored a try and involved in two others, playing in the halves for a spell.
