Leeds Rhinos on shock standby to step in for Grand Final

Leeds Rhinos have been notified that they are on standby for Saturday’s Grand Final, if either St Helens or the Catalans Dragons endure a COVID-19 outbreak.

That’s according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, which confirmed that, because the Rhinos were the highest-ranked semi-final losers, they will asked to step in if the competition needs it.

“We have got to get tested [on Tuesday],” Agar said.

“We are on stand-by, but it’s only right the two teams who’ve earned the right to be in the Grand Final get to play there.”

Leeds bowed out of the Super League Grand Final play-offs in a 36-8 defeat to St Helens last week, but received great praise for the way in which they finished the season following a serious injury crisis midway through the season.
