Leeds Rhinos new signing reacts to major injury update

Leeds Rhinos have announced earlier that star player Mikolaj Oledzki and new signing Luke Hooley are out for 12-14 and 12 weeks respectively.

Hooley, who arrived from Batley, has reacted to the announcement via a tweet.

Hooley, 24, said: “Gutted is an understatement, not the start that I wanted but that’s RL for you! See you all at the start of the season.”

That start of the season is almost certain to be from the stands given that the club have announced he is likely out for 12 weeks.

Hooley suffered an ankle injury after what is being reported as an “innocuous trip” and has undergone surgery this week.

Using a 12-week timescale from today (14th December) when the news was reported would place him in line with a race for fitness to be ready for Round 4 when the Rhinos host Wakefield on the 10th March.

The club statement regarding Hooley’s injury read as follows.

“New signing Luke Hooley suffered an ankle injury in training following an innocuous trip. He had surgery on Friday and will be out for up to 12 weeks.”

Any delay could see him join star Oledzki in a race to return for ‘Rivals Round’ in week eight when the Rhinos play Castleford Tigers.
