Leeds Rhinos’ new signing hitting the gym just hours after arrival

Rohan Smith has really taken hold of Leeds Rhinos ever since he arrived early during the 2022 season and in his first off-season he’s made plenty of improvements to the squad.

Leeds have shown heavy recruitment in bringing in the players that suit the vision that Smith clearly has, after all it was under Smith that a side ranked 11th after eight games made it all the way too the Grand Final.

The signing that everyone expected and had been long rumoured during the off-season was Nene Macdonald and he was the latest addition to the squad, although Smith insists recruitment isn’t finished as reported here.

However one of the earlier signings has been the last to arrive and that is Sam Lisone with ‘Slammin’ as he’s affectionally known arriving from Gold Coast Titans being signed in October, something a journalist at a recent press conference asked him about.

“Ermmm months? Day, I just got in yesterday,” Lisone answered at the press conference earlier in the week ahead of Rhinos’ Boxing Day game against Wakefield Trinity.

The 28-year-old continued: “Yeah, it’s been pretty good. I was up at probably 2:30 today, in the morning, I feel pretty good.

“I did some weights with the boys and met the team. I’m just excited to get around with the boys and get amongst it.”.

Lisone was seemingly having troubled altering his body clock with the Samoan having arrived just in time for Christmas but he was in positive spirits as he was asked about his new club.

The former Samoan international will add plenty of power to the Rhinos’ pack with the prop being renowned for his powerful running style in which he tacks up plenty of carries.

Unfortunately for fans he won’t be playing on Boxing Day given his late arrival to the country but he’s expected to be working with the team almost immediately.

When asked about what has impressed him with Rhinos he simply responded with the answer, “the gym” indicating that despite being in the country for only a few hours he’s already putting in the hard work.
