Leeds Rhinos’ “minds blown” by Leigh Leopards says Jon Wilkin

Last night Leigh Leopards moved level on points with Leeds Rhinos in the Super League table as they defeated the Rhinos 20-6 at Leigh Sports Village.

Speaking after the game on Sky Sports, Phil Clarke said the game exemplified how far the Leopards have come in 2023:

“It is worth pointing out that the last time Leigh played Leeds was less than two years ago and Leeds won by 46-10.

“Here this is an amazing turn around and it is credit to all the hard work done at Leigh.”

Meanwhile, Jon Wilkin said Leigh “blew Leeds’ minds” in an impressive win for the Leopards:

“It was some start, all three tries in the first 19 minutes. Edwin Ipape being really dangerous out of dummy half.

“What a start for Leigh and Leeds were never in it.

“That amazing start from Leigh blew Leeds’ minds and they couldn’t get it back.”

Brian Carney quite rightly then pointed out that the Leopards are now well in the mix for the play-offs saying:

“Leigh now knocking on the door of the top six.”

The Leopards are on 10 points which is joint with the likes of Salford Red Devils and Super League and World Champions St Helens and sees them just lingering outside those play-off spots.

It has been a terrific start to the season for Adrian Lam’s men.

For Leeds, it is yet more inconsistency.
