Leeds Rhinos forward Mikolaj Oledzki has been taken to hospital following the club’s loss to St Helens on Friday night.
After beating table toppers Hull KR last week, Leeds were full of confidence as they approached the clash with St Helens at Headingley, but they simply lacked the answers to combat a fine defensive performance from Paul Wellens’ side.
Owen Dagnell’s first half effort was the only try of the game, with Leeds’ key men failing to find a rhythm against the Saints, who are now sitting inside the top three.
However, the Rhinos ended the contest with concern as Oledzki left the field with a head injury late on and Arthur has now confirmed the forward has been taken to hospital with a suspected fracture in his face.
“They’ve taken him to hospital,” Arthur said after the game. “It doesn’t look good, he might have a fracture to his face.
“We will have to wait and see. He is pretty beat up, he is on the gas and they’ll get him up to hospital. They’ll get him looked at and see where to go from there. It could be surgery, who knows?”
Arthur added: “He thinks he got a shoulder flush on his head, but we don’t want to be making rash statements until we’ve actually seen it. There has to be some sort of force on his head for him to have a fracture, but how it happened, I don’t know.”
Speaking about the game itself, Arthur conceded Leeds didn’t deserve to win on the night, with St Helens outplaying the Rhinos
“Everyone was trying to come up with something special to win it on their own,” he said. “We didn’t play as a team and that led to errors. The harder we tried, the worse it got. We tried not as a team, but as individuals.
“We didn’t deserve to win that game. They out-played us. It’s a good lesson and we need to learn it pretty quickly – everyone needs to do their role, but we need to do it as a team.”

If you didn’t want to make rash statements, why did you?
