Leeds Rhinos man returns from injury to feature for reserves alongside two new signings

Leeds Rhinos Reserves are in action for the first time in 2023 this Thursday night as they take on Bradford Bulls Reserves.

The teams meet in round one for the third time since the Reserves competition returned in 2020. The first encounter between the two clubs was played at Thursday’s venue, Stanningley, as a young Rhinos side toughed out a 16-10 win, before they ran eight tries passed the Bulls in a 52-8 result at Horsfall Stadium last year.

The Rhinos are aiming to build on last year’s fifth place finish in the Reserves league standings, having won seven of their 13 matches. Bradford on the other hand will be wanting to start this year’s competition better than 2022, when they lost four consecutive games to open the season.

In an exciting move for 2023, this year’s competition will feature all 12 Super League teams, as well as Bradford, Newcastle and London. Leigh Leopards are the newest addition and were meant to open their Reserves season against Hull KR on Saturday, but the fixture has been postponed.

Elsewhere in round one, last year’s Reserves finalists Wakefield travel to Huddersfield on Saturday, while champions Wigan Warriors take on Castleford Tigers at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

In terms of the team news, new signings Luis Roberts and Leon Ruan are set to feature after dropping out of the 21 man squad.

Despite being named in the 21 man squad Jack Sinfield is named.

Meanwhile, Corey Johnson returns from injury to feature.
