There seems to be a growing trend of Super League looking at NRL rules and then adopting a number of them.
One of those was the controversial six again rule – a regulation intended to speed up the game instead of blowing for a penalty.
There is one rule that is present in the NRL that is wanted by a number of those within the rugby league fraternity – and that is the Captain’s Challenge.
That is, a captain is able to challenge a referee’s call if they feel there has been an unfair decision – that would allow the decision to be sent ‘upstairs’ to allow the video official to check the decision.
For Leeds Rhinos legend Ryan Bailey, that is a rule that should be introduced. He tweeted: “Super league needs captains call.”

Referees are human, after all, and they will make mistakes so to have a captain’s call could actually mitigate such mistakes and help increase accuracy on the field.
It also gives officials the chance to ask players who come chirping in their ears whether or not they would like to officially challenge the decision.
Of course, it also gives teams the opportunity to try and get one over on their opponents.
It definitely works in the NRL, so maybe it would be beneficial for Super League too.

The NRL have every game televised, so this is easier to do. Without this, how could teams challenge? There is no video playback…
It would be great if every game was televised, and then this rule could be adopted. It would do as RB says, but we are so far away from having every game on Premier Sports, let alone a decent medium such as Sky Sports or BT Sport…
Let’s hope Amazon fancy picking up the SL after yhr RLWC!
