Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow reveals ‘scandalous’ treatment by Ryanair in heartbreaking development

Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow is one in a million – that much is true.

Loved by all involved in rugby league and wider society, the past few years have been a tremendously difficult time for Rob and his family as the former Leeds halfback battles Motor Neurone Disease.

After being diagnosed with the degenerative disease back in December 2019, Rob has fought courageously and magnificently to raise awareness and funds of the dreadful disease.

That being said, the MND Research is still waiting for its £50 million promise from the Conservative government as Prime Minister Boris Johnson once more fluffs his lines whilst those such as Kevin Sinfield and society try their damnedest to raise the necessary money to find a cure.

The decision to withhold funds has been a major kick in the teeth for Burrow and his supporters, which includes former Leeds Rhinos teammate Sinfield.

Sinfield ran seven marathons in seven days raising £3 million for MND charities, going the extra mile for his former teammate ever since his diagnosis back in late 2019 and the two have provided hope to so many people with the platform the two have created.

The ex-Rhinos captain went on to run 100 miles in 24 hours which is the equivalent of four marathons back-to-back with no sleep. He ran from his new club Leicester Tigers’ Welford Road Stadium all the way to Leeds’ Emerald Headingley Stadium.

But, all of those efforts have fallen on deaf ears in Downing Street, much to the chagrin of Rob and his family, as well as his mighty support.

So, with that in mind, one would expect Burrow to be treated with extreme care – especially when trying to board a flight.

However, Rob revealed on social media giant Twitter just how he was treated as a disabled passenger on a Ryanair flight – which he described as ‘scandalous.’

Rob tweeted: “What a absolute disgrace of a airline. The process for a disabled person is scandalous. I will never go with them again. #rubbish # @Ryanair.”

Though Rob doesn’t go into detail about what happened, just him vowing to never fly with them again was enough to earn the ire of the rugby league fraternity who couldn’t believe he had been treated this way.
