As a player, Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow won it all.
From Grand Finals and Challenge Cups to World Club Challenges and Harry Sunderland Trophies, the diminutive halfback/hooker has a trophy locker that every rugby league player would be envious of.
Being part of an incredible Leeds side that swept aside all challengers on numerous occasions built up Burrow’s reputation as one of the most inspiring to ever take to the rugby league field.
And, with the news that broke in November 2019, the love for Burrow swelled tremendously.
Diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, Burrow was – and has been – surrounded by friends and family as well as the rugby league fraternity.
With the likes of former teammate Kevin Sinfield leading the way, millions have been raised for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) with the Centre in his name having almost received the funding it needs to open its doors.
And, in one of the fundraisers for Rob in the recent past, enough money was raised for a special vehicle adapted for wheelchair access to ensure the former number 7’s transportation.
His father, Geoff, tweeted: “Thank you to everyone at Leeds Irish Centre who, through the Sports Luncheon some months ago, have provided Rob and his family with a wonderful Vehicle that has been adapted for Wheelchair access. This vehicle has made transport for Rob and the family SO much easier. So kind x”
