Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow and MND STILL waiting for government promise despite father Geoff Burrow’s plea

Rob Burrow’s father, Geoff, took to Twitter a fortnight ago to outline his disgust at the government decision not to release the money promised in the Chancellor’s budget.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak revealed his new budget for the financial season in April, but Burrow’s campaign to raise £50 million over five years in government spending has yet to be given any sort of financial support.

It’s a major kick in the teeth for Burrow and his supporters, which includes former Leeds Rhinos teammate Kevin Sinfield.

Sinfield ran seven marathons in seven days raising £3 million for MND charities, going the extra mile for his former teammate ever since his diagnosis back in late 2019 and the two have provided hope to so many people with the platform the two have created.

The ex-Rhinos captain went on to run 100 miles in 24 hours which is the equivalent of four marathons back-to-back with no sleep. He ran from his new club Leicester Tigers’ Welford Road Stadium all the way to Leeds’ Emerald Headingley Stadium.

But, all of those efforts have fallen on deaf ears in Downing Street, much to the chagrin of Rob and his family, as well as his mighty support.

Geoff tweeted: “I am absolutely disgusted that NO MONEY has been received of the £50 million over 5 years for MND !!! Government and Health Minister should hang their heads in shame. Was the “promise” just a cruel sick lie ? Give us the money PLEASE.”

Despite Geoff’s plea, nothing has yet been done and the Burrow family and the MND community are STILL waiting weeks on.

When will this Conservative government pull their finger out and do what is right?
