Leeds Rhinos legend Kevin Sinfield will always be remembered in rugby league.
But, when he left rugby league towards the back end of last year, many couldn’t believe what they were seeing or reading.
A rugby league hero, with a director of rugby role at his beloved Leeds, joined rugby union side Leicester Tigers as defence coach.
But, as of now, Sinfield doesn’t know where his future will take him, but he is enjoying the ride with his family as he sat down with the Ventur Further podcast with his side get ready to win a potential Premiership title.
“I’m not sure where rugby will take me, I don’t quite know what will come next,” Sinfield told the Ventur Further podcast.
“I suppose like most people I just want the best for my family – I want them to keep fit and healthy.
“I’d love to sit here and say it’s all about trophies and winning this and winning that, but if we’re good enough that will happen and that will take care of itself.”
That, of course, yielded another victory for Sinfield with the Tigers winning the Premiership title last month in a 15-12 triumph over favourites Saracens.
And, the Leeds legend also drew parallels between Leicester and former club Leeds.
“I just want to enjoy my time at a really good club now that remind a lot of the Rhinos.
“I’ve been really fortunate to be involved with two great rugby clubs in different codes, so I’m just trying to enjoy the experience and see where we end up.”
It’s off the field where Sinfield has earned the most praise, raising over £4 million for Motor Neurone Disease research in two separate challenges.
First, Sinfield ran seven marathons in seven days and then the former Leeds Rhinos stalwart ran 101 miles in 24 hours – both to raise money for the fight of his friend and former teammate Rob Burrow against MND.
The 41-year-old has already revealed that he will set himself another arduous task at the end of the year as he continues to grow the awareness and funding to combat the horrific disease.
